A home for the Family Stewardship Centre
Imagine a place where families gather before birth...
Where new parents are initiated into parenthood.
Where babies are welcomed in ceremony.
Where are young children are stewarded into adulthood.
Where grandparents share wisdom.
And families return year after year through life's many thresholds.
Imagine a place that helps love travel across generations…
We are Seeking Legacy Property within 30 minutes of Victoria General Hospital ready to become a ceremonial Birth and Family Stewardship Centre, and we need your support to find it.
Learn About Family Stewardship
The Family Stewardship Centre works alongside Indigenous Midwives who offer medical care. Family Stewards provide emotional, social, and spiritual support to both birthing and non-birthing parents. All our precious relatives are welcome at the Family Stewardship Centre.
We hold a special responsibility to prioritize families from Kosapsum, Songhees, Tsartlip, Pauquachin, Tsawout, Tseycum, Malahat, and T’Sou-ke Nations, alongside our Métis, Inuit, and Urban Indigenous relatives who live on Lək̓ʷəŋən-speaking Territory.
Your Legacy
Honoured
How will my gift be recognized?
The first property donor, major funders, Wise Council members, and founding families will be recognized as the Founding Ancestors of the Family Stewardship Centre.
Through naming ceremonies, we will honour each Ancestor's contribution by identifying a space, room, garden, gathering place, or program that reflects the unique gift they shared with future generations.
Gratitude and honouring our ancestors are core values of the Family Stewardship Centre.
Founding Ancestors are invited to our annual Family Feast where we honour every family born into our community that year, and all the families that make this possible.
What ways can my property be gifted?
We know that a legacy property is a multigenerational gift. There are many ways we can build this relationship over time. A one-time gift, lease-to-own, or below-market sale, and shared stewardship are all viable pathways. Our priority is to work with donors in authentic and reciprocal ways.
Every place carries a story.
Every family carries a legacy.
There are many pathways for those stories to meet. A direct donation, lease-to-own arrangement, below-market sale, or shared stewardship partnership are all possible expressions of generosity.
Rather than seeking a transaction, we are seeking a relationship—one rooted in reciprocity, shared values, and a commitment to future generations.
Together, we hope to find the pathway that best honours the gift, the giver, and the families born here.
Can I receive a tax receipt for a property or financial gift?
Yes.
While the Family Stewardship Centre is currently a registered non-profit rather than a registered charity, donations can be receipted through our charitable partner, University of Victoria.
For those considering a significant financial contribution, legacy gift, estate gift, or property donation, we are happy to explore the available options alongside your legal, financial, and tax advisors to ensure your intentions are honoured and your gift is structured appropriately.
Working Together
Request a Conversation
We are seeking conversations, not just commitments. If you own a property, know someone who might, or have another pathway for us to consider, let's talk.
Together we can explore how to midwife the Family Stewardship Centre into being.
Meet with our founder to explore how your legacy property, land, or donation can transform the way we birth families into our community today.
Provide a Letter of Support
As we continue fundraising for our first Family Stewardship Centre, letters of support from delegated agencies, municipal leaders, caregivers, health and wellness professionals, and local families will continue to demonstrate our needs and collective impact.

Collectively Manifesting the Legacy Property of our Dreams
We see a home with 6+ rooms for birthers and birth workers to sleep,
We see Family Stewards and midwives working together,
We see a great room where groups of 30 gather in circle,
We see a kitchen where families are fed,
Space for children to play,
Gardens where food and medicine grow,
Quiet rooms for rest, healing, grief, and transition.
This space will need to zoned or rezoned for “community care.”
